CHA Bound!

Hi everyone, this is Jen. Karen has had her morning coffee and is getting ready for a fun filled day at CHA. Yesterday we took two classes here Karen is showing her beautiful .....not sure what. But its acrylic, its's a background and I love it.

The second class was with Trish from Encaustikits, here Karen and I are playing in the wax. Getting messy is just our thing.

Oh oh oh I got to meet Kiki last night while Karen was hanging out with her and the girls from Canadian Scrapbooker and Bettina from My Stamp Box a new Canadian company who's vending here this week.

Gotta go, my Queen is ready to start her day, I wonder who we'll meet today

Catalina Island.....

Sooooo pretty!
I loved walking around Catalina Island. It's what I imagine a small Mediterranean village to be like - especially with all the artful fired clay adornments on every building, bench and walkway -- check this out!

Some fabulous art pieces too - and quaint little boutiques and galleries. I even spoke to an artist that is bringing back the stone tile art that adorns the village. Meet Robin:

Gotta love meeting creative people. Art is everyone. Inspiration is everywhere.
Now go - create art!

Hola!

Well, Jen and I made it to LA..... Here we are getting all giddy at Santa Monica Pier - YAY~~ I finally, after all my travels, have seen the Pacific Ocean - and even dipped my tootsies in it! Hurray!
Love this pier!!! and the Mexican Restaurant at the end of it. Delish food and fantastic Margaritas!!! Wonderful atmosphere complete with Mariachi Band.... and who can beat the view?
So, how's the weather in Canada? *smile*

Just a Reminder that I am not in Kitchener (like you needed more proof :) ) so... the studio is closed until I return next week.

What's on my agenda tomorrow? Drinks on the Lido deck served by some guy named Issac -- well, you never know!

Stay warm!!

Art Journaling..... Life IS Good!

Last night was our first ART JOURNALING group "meeting". And what a wonderful evening it was! Thank you to everyone who came. I thoroughly enjoyed creating with you all!

On the 3rd Wednesday of the Month we will be meeting, sharing ideas, thoughts, techniques, and working in our art journals. Each month we will highlight the Art Journaling styles of a different artist and, someone from our group will show us their favourite techniques and pages -- then challenge us all to be inspired by that technique. How fun.

This month - the fabulously funky Teesha Moore. Teesha loves to collage in her journals using magazines and bits of other fun papers like wallpaper, cards, gift wrap, you name it. Above is my "go at it". And, please note.... it's not finished. I'll be adding more and more to it as the fancy strikes. *smile*

Now, where's my pens?? I ahve another idea!!
Have a creative day everyone!

Mo's trip to the S"PAW"

I don't normally post too many personal thing's here but this I had to share. *smile*

My little poochie went to the salon today -- conveniently located next door at Bark Avenue Dog Grooming. I always give Stephen free reign to do what he wishes to our 'princely pooch" and today he gave Mo a little something special, a colour treatment - hehe.

Mo LOVES going to get groomed - and wow was he overdue!
Ron and Ashley bathed Mo and got him ready for Stephen ... and Stephen got out the foils to add some green highlights. Here he is with the foils:
You know when Mo is in a great mood -- he swings his ears back. Stephen thought it extra cute when he did that with the foils in:
heheh... that's my little guy :)

Here's Stephen with Mo when he brought him over to see me when he was done. Yes, Mo loves Stephen! Kiss Kiss :)

See... sitting so handsome!! Mozart LOVES it when he looks Goooooood! THANK YOU STEPHEN, Ron Ashley .... and Ros too, for making Mo feel so special!! .... and we love the little hint of colour! :)

More Classes.... Makin' Ink Pads

This fun little class is also for the Nottawasaga Retreat BUT the technique is the technique of the Month for February so you'll be seeing it again - FOR SURE!

I will be teaching people how to make their own CUSTOM INK PADS for their detailed stamps.
See how the images are multi-coloured... well, this is done by custom inking a stamped image (with Distress Inks) on Cut N Dry Felt (by Ranger). Tim Holtz recently did this technique in his 12 tags of Christmas (day 2) and I fell in love with it all over again!! Yes, I had to share!
Since I love the Alice in Wonderland stamps by Scrollswork Stamps, love the now almost completely sold out Wonderland paper by Graphic 45, and well.... gotta love those charms *smile*, I created this 2 card set. Hope you like!
Have a creative day everyone!

Posting it in Style...

I have been busy in the studio getting classes ready for the upcoming Nottawasaga Retreat!
Here's another one I created for the occasion -- A 12x12 Framed Memo Board.

The White space is actual white board, the black is (yes) blackboard and the cork is... you guessed it - corkboard :)

I'll be showing students how to make these fun fabric flowers, we'll be spritzing with Ranger Pearl Mists and, well.... enjoying the process!

Class registration for the retreat will start when I get back from CHA. So stay tuned.
Would you like to join us at the retreat? I have a couple spaces open if you'd like to come. Please register by Feb 12, 2011. You can find the deets HERE.

Have a creative weekend all!

Do you have a Disney Mind?

Well, this little creation of mine will certainly sort how many of you have a Disney mind - and how many of you don't *wink* LOL But I couldn't resist!!

Yes, I had the opportunity to play with the Mermaid Stamps from Character Constructions yesterday. I made this fabulous "Ariel-inspired" mermaid and decided to house her in her own aquarium - in this case, the Heart-Shaped Shadow Box from Darcie's.
I love how it turned out -- but still have some plans. I think I am going to hang some beads and shells from the frame and spice it up a little more (not that the saying isn't spicy enough! hehe *wink*). I have to say, I am LOVING the Viva Decor Pearl Pens and Glitter Liners. So much nicer than anything Stickles related. More control, finer lines (if you want) and faster dry times. What's not to like?
Anyway, must go. .... got to get back to retreat class preparations! :)
Have a creative day!

Beautiful Banners....

I mentioned in yesterday's post that I received my event banners in the mail.

Well, I wasn't kidding. *smile* Amy and I hung the Mixed Minded and Donna Downey Workshop banners in the windows and they are creating some attention -- YAY! That's what they're there for ....as long as people are still watching the road on Lancaster..... *cringe*

Here's how they look:
I picked up a HUGE floor mounted 6' Banner to use at the show too. (the one on the left is 5', I think)

Whatcha think?? ...sorry about the glare.... I neglected to take this photo earlier and now it's dusk and not ideal picture taking conditions :) But me thinks you get the idea! *grin*

Happy New Year

WOW!! Where does the time fly?!! It's been forever since I blogged and if the date on the top of the posts wasn't enough of a reminder.... the emails and calls I received from some of you missing my posts are certainly another. Ooops! sorry....... :)

Anyway, hope you all had a marvelous (AND CREATIVE) holiday!!

This is a layout I completed for a Christmas Gift (My in-laws have an album that I add to every year) . It's Emily's year in review - minus the journaling which I spared you of *smile* This is also a preview of the Classes Offered at the Nottawasaga Scrapbooking/Card Making Retreat I'm holding the last week of February. This is the layout class. You'll learn about stamping on your layouts (they are not just for cards *wink*) and how to use Distress Inks to dye your ribbons and lace. A totally fun little one hour class, eh? hehe

Tonight the Technique of the Month Club is meeting... I'll be sure to post tomorrow - I PROMISE!!!!!

Have a creative day!
