USTREAM follow up - Karen's "Barbie" Canvas

Okay -- I had so much fun creating for the sake of creating this week!!
On USTREAM last night I showed the "gals" a canvas I prepped that had a PaperClay figure if a woman dried and ready to go.   I "decoupaged" papers on her (had the background already done....  and then ...  cause I was going through a little bit of Anna Dabrowska withdrawl, I collaged her skirt in Anna's style.   Here's a closeup of it:
I

And here is the USTREAM vid of me doing it.

After the cameras stopped recording, I started the body.

I used Flower Soft for the sweater - hate using that stuff but love the effect so I suffered through it. LOL.  Added bits of lace to trim it  - Perfect!!  I was so happy how it came together!

Next came the face.
I am such a novice at faces but I am pretty happy how this turned out.
I molded the face with the clay before it dried so I had the shape of it predetermined for me (including a little sunken area for each eye creating a ridge for her nose.)   That helped a lot.

From there it was all about the shading.  I painted her with a combination of Acrylic Paints and Gellatos.  There's a little Luminarte Silks there in there too.

Here's another view - you can sort of see the dimension
I loved the girl but didn't love the background - AT FIRST
Today I had a group in the studio playing and they can attest that the background changed multiple times.   IN FACT...   I added the bubble wrap and splatter effects AFTER they left today. I just couldn't let it go -- But I am MUCH happier now. :)  Hehe

Here is what she looks like ... for now *wink*

I'm thinking I need to frame her a bit more -- I'll let you know what I do when I do it.
So - whatcha think of Barbie?  hehe

Hope you have a creative day

I am so happy to debut Pam Carriker's new stamp line by Stampington here at the studio.   This is what Stampington had to say about the line...   couldn't say it better myself ! *smile*

What a week! *Anna Dabrowska Workshop Pictures*

I am back from CHA filled with ideas and an empty pocket book.  hehehehe
I love attending CHA (the Crafty and Hobby Trade Show) so that I can see all the new products and meet up with some friends that I've made in the industry.  There's never a dull moment!  I'll be posting about the products I ordered periodically over the next few weeks.  Don't want to overload the senses! *smile*

I flew back to KW on Thursday night with Anna Dabrowska as she hosted a workshop with us at the Cambridge Hotel and Conference Centre on Friday.  WHAT A FANTASTIC day!

Thank you to all who participated.  It was a wonderful experience to get to know Anna and her grungy mixed media style -- I absolutely LOVED watching you all create some truly inspired journals!   Here are a few pictures taken at the event for you to enjoy!

A special note to all those people who ask Lisa about me teaching at her event.... Here you go!!!  You get your chance!  hehe  I will be teaching 3 classes at CropFest and I hope you can attend one or all with me at the event!  Class Registration will be open to attendees first at a special attendee rate but anyone can register for a class after September 19th.  Event registration opens Wednesday July 18th, 2012 at 8:00 pm

USTREAM follow up - Ruffle Necklace and Shrink Charms

Hello Everyone!
thank you so much for joining me last night on USTREAM.  I love creating these broadcasts and LOVE that you join me!

Last night I created this Ruffled Necklace using some scrap muslin, my "striped stem" stamp set from myStamp BOX and some Lumiere paints (and my sewing machine)
And then I created some Shrink embellishments to dangle from another chain with this necklace and for a flower clip shown here:
I think this might just be attached to the necklace...  or perhaps be in my hair.  hummm....  *wink*

Because of technical difficulties, last night's broadcast was recorded in 2 parts.  Here they are.  HAVE FUN!
