And the Scrappy Goes to......

What a weekend!
I got back from the Nottawasaga Retreat around supper time on Sunday and hunkered down to watch the Real Academy Awards...

As part of the weekend's festivities 11 of us participated in an Academy Awards Picks Contest. Participants paid $5 to enter and 50% of the proceeds will go to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation in the Memory of one of our scrappers, Dawn Maksymiv. Congratulations BRIT (Eileen M.) the winner of this contest with 12 correct picks!! You had some mighty fine guessing! LOL. Brit has donated her share of the winnings to Princess Margaret Hospital which brings our total donation to $100 (Entry fees and misc donations). Thanks for participating everyone!

So what to say about the retreat!

We had 60 very eager, very productive and very fun scrapbookers at the Nottawasaga Resort this weekend. They "ate" up the free make n takes, the classes... the Awesome food at the Nott... good time was had by all.
Anne and Sonya graced the Red Carpet with their Scrapbooking gowns.... Anne's was created by our very own Julie AR Mani. What fun. I have a video of their Red Carpet escapades -- when I can, I will upload that to the website. I promise!

On Saturday between the fabulous classes offered by Judy and Sheri from In A Pinch Designs, we played an Oscar Trivia Game. Each table at the retreat was given a Ballot Sheet and was asked to write down the answers to 10 trivia questions. We had 4 tables that guessed all the questions correctly but with bonus points, we were down to a tie. Representatives from the two tables came up to the front of the room and drew tickets.... The winning table received the full line "Lucky" papers from Rusty Pickle and some coordinating Jumbo RicRac. Not to be left out.... our other winning table received a collection pack from Daisy D's. Always come prepared for a tie! :)

Door Prizes, what can I say about the door prizes. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful sponsors. This year we had gifts from (in no particular order):
Scraphoria, The Scrapping Bug, The Scrapping Turtle, The Learning Factory, Scraps of Joy, ClayArtz , Simply Scrapping, Cathy Locke (TLC), Kim McArthur (CTMH), In A Pinch Designs, The Memory Mill, A Scrapbookers Dream, Scrapfest and Go Scrapping of course! Phew, that's a lot of prizes.... I especially enjoyed giving away the Deal or No Deal Door Prize sponsored by Go Scrapping. January was a fabulous contestant that walked away with the whole shebang! Congrats to ALL our Winners!!!
It wouldn't be an Academy Awards themed retreat without giving out a few awards ourselves!! Our were called "Scrappys". And the Winners were:

Comedic Layout - Pat F
Photography - Mandi M
Original Journaling - Christie E
Technical Layout - Mat C
Supporting Scrappers - Eileen M, Joanne T
Best Card (Short) as voted by our guests: Cheryl B
Best Layout (Feature) as voted by our guests: Mat C

Thanks for a GREAT RETREAT everyone!!!
