Fly Free - A Prayer Flag a la USTREAM...

I had so much fun broadcasting from the studio this evening with Alyssa Light - one of our instructors at Mixed Minded in May. Alyssa is teaching two classes on Fabric Dyeing (one is a wax free resist dyeing class) and we used some of her hand dyed fabrics as a base for a couple of Prayer Flags that were inspired by an article we saw in the current issue of Cloth Paper Scissors. The top one is my finished flag - below is Alyssa's work in progress....
Thank you to everyone who joined us online tonight! Loved having you a part of the process!! And Alyssa... we wanna see when you're finished!! *wink* Thanks for joining me.
Here is the recorded video

Here are the products I used in the video that are available for sale in the studio

Have a creative day everyone!!
...and please note ... next weekend is Easter Weekend - there will be no broadcast on Good Friday. The following weekend (Friday the 13th) is ScrapFest and I will be at that show so there will be no scheduled broadcast there either. I will try to film a live from ScrapFest but that will depend on if there is reliable internet access in the arena. Live Broadcasts will return the following weekend.

I will be broadcasting tonight..... and I will have a special guest!

Alyssa Light will be in the studio today (we are going to be filming some of her upcoming Mixed Minded class promos) and she is going to stay and chat with us on USTREAM .

In honour of Alyssa ... I'll do something with fabric ... hand dyed fabric! yahoo!!

See you at 6:30 EST

Scrapping with Graphic 45

Yes, on tonight's USTREAM broadcast I scrapbooked. Strange, isnt' it *wink*
It's so strange to do that for you on camera. I move things around, change my mind, etc etc all the time... I wondered if you'd follow along. Turned out to be a funtastic evening. Thanks to all who participated in the live feed and special thanks to Bonnie for her intermission "show and tell" and keeping me on my toes. heheheeh

Here's the layout I created tonight with the Olde Curiosity Shoppe (above)- "When Pigs Fly"
Lots of layers and lumps and bumps on this baby!!

Here are the three vids. Yes, I was booted twice during the broadcast. Sorry ladies -- that will teach Bonnie for walking in front of the cupboard! HAHA Hope you enjoy! Have a creative day!

Oh, Eleanor.....

I love Eleanor Roosevelt. I think she was not only a strong woman but an inspiration. So many of the inspirational quotes we commonly hear today were said by her. Her strength, her optimism, her outlook on life fascinates me.

Here is the journal page I created on Wednesday night with the Art Journaling gals.
It was inspired by Donna Downey's Inspiration Wedensday this week and one of Eleanor's less famous but fabulous quotes.

Now, I HATE my pen work here. But, I thought I'd share anyway. this would be so much nicer if the pen work was done in a finer pen but, oh well.... live, learn and embrace the "flopportunity" hehehehe

The Eleanor paper doll is from a Paper Poll book published in 1990 that I found in a re-store -- I cherish that paper doll book!!! hehehe... you never know what you'll find!

Hope you have a creative day AND if you'd like to join us for Art Journaling night.. let me know. It's the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Love to see you there!!

Scrapbooking? Me?

Yes!! I have been scrapbooking this week! It's been nice to get back to my roots, so to speak. I've been playing with the new stuff and getting samples created for our ScrapFest Booth (ScrapFest is only 3 weeks away!) ... here's one I'd like to share with you.

You may remember this photo of me taken a few years ago in Miami... ahhhhh the beach! *smile* I thought it would work nicely here in this beach layout using the new BEACH papers from CANVAS CORP. Yummo!

Everything on this layout came from the Beach Canvas Corp line except for the shells (which are real) and the distress ink through the Punchinella template from Crafter's Workshop... See.... It just wouldn't be a 'Karen" layout without some templates now, would it! hehe
I like and am looking forward to hanging it in the booth.

I created another layout this week with paints, inks and PanPastels on some 7 Dots Studio paper. You'll have to wait to see that when it's posted on the Canadian Scrapbooker blog on Tuesday. Don't worry -- I'll link it for ya! *wink*

Have a creative day!

More from my inbox

Check these out -
Kelly upcycled a pair of old leather clogs (the leather was yucky looking but the clog still good) using some fabric paint and my Crafter's Workshop "Whimsical Vines" template. (She treated the leather to take the paint first)

see... here's a camera phone photo of one of the shoes.
How awesome is that? Super cute
Have a creative day!
