Resinating ...

Okay -- so I have been dying to play with resin some more and this week I took the opportunity to try something new.

I received my big Envirotex Light order for Mixed Minded and thought that NOW was the perfect time to attempt adding resin to paper and make - oddly enough.... resin paper! hehehe I saw an art journal created with resin papers at CHA and it looked STELLAR!!! But I thought I'd start smaller. *smile*

This month's issue of Cloth Paper Scissors had a how-to article entitled "Story Flowers" that showed you how to create a 3D armature wire flower on which you felt and stitch fabric to create something special. Although I have been in love with fabric lately -- I thought this would be the perfect "home" for some resin papers. So glad I did this! I love how it turned out.

Have you played with resin yet?
The is room in Carmi's resin Mixed Minded Classes if you need a little shove in the resin direction! :) We'd love to have you join us!

I'm dying to play with resin! Love what you did with it. I bought my first paper, cloth scissors the other day and thought of you! You belong in there!

This is beautiful. I'll have to check out the cloth paper scissors article as it sounds like a project by an artist that I know ... Jennifer Swift.

I have a question for you Karen ... have you ever heard of a "green" resin? IF so, do you have it in the store to purchase?

Not heard of it -- how interesting :) I just might have to ask around here in NC. I'll let you know what I find out!

Thanks Lorrie :)

Hi Karen,
I saw your post the other day but was in a hurry and didn't leave a comment then. So I had to come back and say I LOVE what you did with your flower. You definitely put your own spin on it and it looks fabulous! I kept thinking about how pretty the hard glossy resin is with the wire. Definitely going to have play with resin a bit more. :) I did try a few different types for the book and my fave was the ICE resin, primarily bc it was non toxic, air dried, and looked so nice and cleat when I was done. I never tried the enviro tex. I'd love to know how they compare. I didn't see such a pretty sheen with the ICE as you seem to have gotten with your
brand. Again I'm short on time tonight so I'll have to come and check out the rest of your blog later- it looks like a great place to linger a bit. Thanks again for being so sweet about the article and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your flower. And shhh.... Don't tell but I might like it better then the one's in the article too. ;)
